Make your mark

All students within the Academy had the opportunity to participate in the Make Your Mark campaign, during Respect Day 1. Students completed a ballot paper, voting on issues they felt were important and should be discussed within Youth Parliament. Below are the top 3 issues our students voted for within the Academy;

  1. Transport. Make public transport cheaper, better and accessible for all.
  2. A curriculum to prepare us for life. Schools should cover topics like finance, sex and relationship education and politics.
  3. Protect LGBT and People. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and young people deserve to be treated the same as everyone else; discrimination needs to be challenged.

This was a great opportunity for students to develop their understanding of the importance of democracy and having their say within parliament.
